Our Focus this Spring: Improving Facilities
About the Bay City Public Schools Bond Proposal

It takes more than qualified teachers and dedicated staff, supportive parents and a concerned community to provide the necessary services to help children achieve. It takes a safe, secure and less-crowded learning environment.

Thank you for your support in passing our bond proposal on May 2, 2006 - to make our schools asbestos free, up to code, less crowded, and handicapped accessible!

Quick Bond Facts

  • May 2, 2006 election
  • $66.875 million
  • 1.59 average mills*

*The 1992 voter-approved bond issue will be paid off in 2007. When paid, the existing 1.1 mills used to pay that bond will be decreased to zero. The new proposed bond is estimated to cost an average of 1.59 mills. Therefore, if voters approve the proposed bond, the net effect to taxpayers would be an estimated average of one-half of one mill (.53 mills) increase to what is currently being paid.
