    1. BBC Science: Interdependence and Adaptation
      On this site children will seach for living things in a forestland habitat, and then construct a food web. A quiz is included.
    2. BBC Science: Habitats
      On this site children will seach for living things in a woodland environment, and then construct two food chains (woodland life and pond life). A quiz is included.
    3. BBC Science: Plants and Animals in the Local Environment
      This is an interactive site for preK/K/1 students that allow them to investigate the living things they might find in a backyard or playground environment. An online quiz is included
    4. Dinosaur Anatomy and Behavior
      Describes the dinosaur's food chain. This site is for general information and is not interactive.
    5. Ecological Education Through Primary School Science
      Descriptions, activities, worksheets covering many different aspects of the Ecosystem. This site contains lesson plans for teachers. The entire lesson plan can be downloaded.
    6. Environmental Biology
      Descriptions of: Roles of organisms, Food Chains, Food Webs, Human vs. Natural Food Chains, Water Cycle, and more information. This site is for general information.

      Outstanding - Elementary students click and drag objects on the computer to create a food web. They can choose from artic, meadow or pond food webs. This is an wonderful activity!
    8. Gulf of Maine Aquarium
      This site contains illustrated information as well as classroom activities (including math word problems for some activites). The site is organized by habitat or species and also contains links to other resources.

      This interactive site has pictures, facts, games and activities for elementary students to learn more about our environment/habitats.

    11. ReviseWise Science: Food Chains
      This is a great site that allows the students to click through animated information windows that teach the basics of food chains. Tests and worksheets for the activity as also available.
    12. Secrets @ Sea
      Teachers and students are invited to log on to the world's firsts online ocean adventure learning game. Ace on the Case: Secrets is a curriculum-based adventure story for grade 4 - 7. It complements ocean-theme units of study in the classroom and enhances students learning experiences using the internet. The knowledge gained from completing these activities leads the student to the solution of the case.
    13. The Wolf and the Moose
      This site is an lesson plan activity for students to role play the relationship between a predator and prey. It would be more appropriate for 5th or 6th grade. The site has suggestions for assessment.
    14. Under the Sea
      An interactive game for elementary students. This site covers a complete unit on marine biology and habitats.
    15. What's it Like Where you Live?
      Oustanding: This site is very user frendly. It contains the different biomes of the world, freshwater resources, and marine ecosystems. It also has great resources and links to other related sites.
    16. Worm World
      This site provides information on the ways worms interrelate in the ecosystem. Emphasis is on worms as "recyclers" - movie clips of birth of worm & heart beat; novel sound bytes and graphics.

      Student interact building different habitats online. Grades 2 - 5
    2. Brine Shrimp Survival
      This site helps sutents develop an understanding of how growth and survival of an organism depends on physical conditions; student design an artificial environment in which brine shrimp can thrive.
    3. Great Plant Escape
      The student will need to read one of six mysteries to help find clues, do experiments, and solve problems as they explore the world of plants.  The "green link" tab is loaded with resources, sites, and ideas for teaching plant units.
    4. Hatching Brine Shrimp
      This site helps develop an understanding of how the growth and survival of an organism (brine shrimp) depend on physical conditions.  This is accomplished by designing an experiement to determine the optimum salinity of water needed to hatch brine shrimp.
    5. Michigan Sea Grant
      Fisheries Learning on the Web (FLOW) a comprehensive curriculum about the Great Lakes ecosystem. Lessons are greared toward educators who teach upper elementary and middle school students. Each lesson is aligned with national and state curriculum standards for science and social studies and features a hands-on classroom activity.
    6. Seeing Through Camouflage
      This site is a nice interactive site after discussing how animals survive in their environment. The site has the learner dragging an animal picture up and deciding out of four possible answers which answer fits how the animal uses it's camouflage to survive. Great for 3rd and 4th grade levels.
    7. Smokey the Bear
      This site uses Smokey the Bear to help teach students the importance of forest and how to prevent forest fires. Online activities, facts and games for the students to learn.
    8. The Great Habitat Match-up - Magic School Bus
      Students will match animals to their correct habitat. The game is very simple to play and is appropriate for students in grades K-2.
    9. The Circle of Life
      Gives general information on the requirements for all living things - food, air, water, minerals, sunlight, and habitat.
    10. USGS - The Learning Web - Global Change
      Much of the change that takes place on Earth is part of a natural cycle.  Human activity, however, can also cause environmental changes.  This site is a collection of educational resources that can be used in the classroom on global change.
    11. Welcome to Recycle City
      Description of how city deteriorated and a game to help clean it up. Grades 4-6. The graphics and description is appealing. Many activities to see how garbage and recycling help the habitat. Need Shockwave to run this site. This is a student activity. Excellent site, students must be able to read or have assistance.
