Dear Parents/Guardians, Students, Staff & Friends of Bay City Public Schools,
Innovation … opportunity … excellence … are three words I love to use to describe our school district and I am very much looking forward to a new year serving our students.
As school begins, I’m excited about the work that continues on our state-of the-art learning facilities due to our successful bond issue passed in May 2006. I’m thrilled to share we will be one of just a few districts in Michigan offering Mandarin Chinese at Western Middle and Western High as a pilot project this fall with a wonderful teacher joining us from Taiwan. The Bay Commitment Scholarship will again be offered to 100 graduating seniors who are first in their families to go to college. We continue to work very hard to improve student achievement.
I encourage you as supporters of your children to get involved in your child’s education in any way you can – we know when parents or others show interest in education, a student’s achievement improves.
